With so much dazzling culture, caffeine, and cuisine, Seattleites hardly have time to miss the sun. The pulsing music scene inspired natives from Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana to Modest Mouse and The Shins, while one of the most-recorded symphonies in the world pleases orchestral aficionados. The Seattle Film Festival is one of the biggest on the continent, and, of course there are more coffee shops per capita than any other major U.S. city.
And that's just the city; it's no surprise that REI was founded here, as the mild climate and ubiquitous parks, water, and mountains give Seattleites endless opportunity for outdoor sports: sailing, kayaking, and jogging, and hiking, plus nearby mountain biking and skiing.
